Jennifer Weatherhead is a television travel expert and journalist based out of Toronto, Canada who’s been traveling around the world for the past 12 years. Her Covid-safe, stress-free and affordable tips are centered around the best and safest getaway destinations for families, honeymooners and singles during the pandemic and Omicron surge.
She’s visited 73 countries and has been known to travel more than 50,000 miles a year. Some of her most exciting experiences abroad have been hiking Huayna Picchu Mountain in Peru, sleeping under the stars in the Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan and diving with great white sharks in South Africa.
TRAVEL EXPERT WITH EXTENSIVE TELEVISION EXPERIENCE
A seasoned guest on TV she’s appeared on hundreds of news and talk programs on American and Canadian networks and affiliates including CTV, Global, CBC, FOX, ABC, and CBS. During the course of the pandemic Jennifer was booked on more than 200 TV and radio programs discussing travel news, travel safety and travel inspiration. She’s also appeared on the long-running celebrity and lifestyle talker The Marilyn Denis Show and Entertainment Tonight Canada.
TRAVEL WRITER – THE LATEST PANDEMIC RELATED NEWS
A digital travel writer as well, Jennifer has written for on-line publications such as The Globe & Mail, The Toronto Star, Refinery29, TinyAtlasQuarterly, Unearth Women and FLARE. She’s given tips on pandemic travel etiquette, has been quoted on the best luggage you can travel with (she’s a carry-on only fan with pro packing tips!), and inspired new travels with her passion for getting to know a destination.
Prior to TV, she was the Senior Digital Editor at ELLE Canada Magazine. She had her nose deep in the fashion and beauty worlds, interviewing famous designers, makeup artists and models. This meant jetting off to Italy for behind-the-scenes tours of Gucci’s leather factory, strolling through Oscar de la Renta’s Connecticut rose garden, and attending fashion weeks in New York, London and Milan.
Jennifer fell in love with exploring new destinations and discovering hidden gems not found in every guidebook. So she left her career at ELLE to focus on all things travel and launched her blog Travel & Style. It’s here where she writes about ways to organize and plan trips during the pandemic and tips for finding Covid safe hotels.
TRAVEL ADVICE FOR CABIN FEVER
Here’s Jennifer’s advice for those with pandemic cabin fever. If you want to stay close to home, take weekend road trips to the countryside and get into the glamper and RVing trend. For the adventurous, visit destinations abroad that are welcoming American tourists back like Croatia, Dubai, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Cambodia, Chile and the Caribbean. Just get out there and explore as safely as you can.
Planning a trip says Jennifer, “Can make you instantly happier so start booking your future dream vacations now.”
