Boston Chef and Nutrition Coach Valerie Cogswell is a food star on the rise. Her health conscious recipes are used by thousands of fans around the world. But what really makes this Chef with cover girl looks different is that Valerie hates diet foods. She spent half her life dieting, until she started making her own yummy restaurant-style, healthy meals. For Valerie this meant using the science of blood sugar stabilization to craft decadent healthy recipes that can easily be recreated at home by the novice cook.

Designed to go far beyond just being healthy, her all natural recipes are a perfect combo of protein, carbohydrates and fats to balance blood sugar levels, burn body fat, build sexy lean muscle and boost metabolism and energy. Valerie has coached thousands of her clients who are now nutritionally sound as a result of her program. Here are some examples of her dishes: Turkey Veggie Burgers With Spicy Curry Aioli, Beef Bolognese With Zucchini Noodles, Vodka Laced Cake Jars, Gluten-Free Carrot Cake, Maple Apple Turkey Sausages, Roasted Parsnip Fries and Banana Nut Protein Pancakes.

Valerie is a nationional health and nutrition speaker for a CEO leadership development firm called Vistage. She’s also a regular contributor to,, (a human performance company created by the Navy Seals) and does regular cooking demos and presentations for a variety of impressive organizations nationwide, including Boston’s firefighters.

You can currently find her recipes in the New York Times best-selling book, “Body Confidence” as well as the new release, “Why Kids Make You Fat And How to Get Your Body Back”. She’s also been featured on and appeared on the highly acclaimed national culinary TV show The Chef’s Kitchen.

The love of her life is her adorable, partially paralyzed French Bulldog named Sophie. Sophie suffers from scoliosis and Valerie immediately connected with her. You see Valerie has a very mild form of scoliosis and when she saw Sophie on Instagram, it was love at first sight. So,Valerie flew from Boston to San Francisco to adopt her from  Norcal Bully Breed Rescue. When Valerie’s not catering to Sophie’s every whim (and changing her tiny diapers) you can find her cooking with Sophie by her side.

Chef Cogswell has a BS in Culinary Nutrition and an AAS in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University.
