High school sweethearts Britnye and Cody Shore are small business entrepreneurs who left city life for the farming lifestyle. They live with and their two young children, Nola Mae and Hendricks in an old renovated farmhouse in the small charming town of Oxford, North Carolina. Without any previous farming experience, they’ve spent their time during the pandemic pivoting their weddings businesses and transforming their 14 acre historical property into a small working family farm with sheep, miniature cows, chickens and ducks. Morgan Farms also hosts beautiful farm to table intimate weddings, farm tours, a weekly market stand, sheep yoga and a glamping retreat.
FARMHOUSE WEDDING VENUE, NORTH CAROLINA
Their entrepreneurial journey started when Cody, a retired firefighter and Britnye a former bridal hair stylist, wanted to create something unique to the wedding industry. So, in 2016 the couple renovated a 1963 Boles Aero travel trailer, painted it pink and launched The Bardot Beauty Bus. A traveling bridal beauty bus on the go! Hitched to the back of the Shore’s pick-up truck, the family of four travels to weddings along the East Coast with their team of the best bridal hair stylists and makeup artists in the bridal industry. The Shores affectionately call their beauty team “The Bardot Babes”.
Inside The Bardot Beauty Beauty Bus are three hair and makeup stations, a cozy lounge area and a place to hang the wedding party dresses. And of course the bus is filled with laughter, happy tears, party music, champagne and lots of anticipation of the special moment of saying, “I do”. thebardot.com
SMALL TOWN HUSBAND AND WIFE HOME RENOVATORS
Expanding their brand beyond their wildest imagination, the Shores renovated a 1941 Art Deco movie theater in the heart of downtown Oxford which was vacant since the 80’s. The Orpheum is a beacon in their small town and was in desperate need of a complete restoration. With the help of the city of Oxford, the town’s mayor and a large construction team, the beloved structure was restored to its original beauty. After two years of construction The Orpheum is now open as a multi-use space for events and parties. The Orpheum at Oxford A Guide to Downtown Oxford
Also in the works is the renovation of a historical Victorian building on their property called The Cooper House. The 5,000 Sq. Ft. property is in the process of being transformed into a boutique home rental for guests traveling through Oxford.
The Shores’ mantra is, “You only have one shot at this, so give it all you got,” This has translated into the couple living out their dreams of a simpler life while beautifying their small southern town.
