MEET ASHLEY MENGWASSER
Atlanta’s thirty-two-year-old Ashley Mengwasser is a six-time Emmy Award winning TV/digital lifestyle host, writer, and producer. For five seasons, Ashley was the quirky, daredevil co-host of Georgia Public Broadcasting’s popular series Georgia Traveler. Highlights from her more than thirty travel segments include skydiving with her grandmother, hang gliding, ballroom dancing, boxing with an Olympian, and a gory The Walking Dead zombie transformation. Up next on the bucket list of bold experiences she’s dying to live out on TV: whale-spotting, gorilla-trekking, jumping off a waterfall, hiking a volcano, an Ayahuasca ceremony, and dancing the Argentine tango on the streets of Argentina.
EMMY AWARD-WINNING LIFESTYLE HOST
Ashley hosts a variety of entertaining content, from DIY to doggies! In 2018, she was handpicked to host Lowe’s Home Improvement’s hilariously explosive YouTube competition DIY-No-Mite. Then, she grabbed a leash and a duffel bag full of treats to tape the syndicated pet travel special Pets Welcome Here, airing on NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and The CW. With her adventure-loving basset hound Rosie co-hosting, the pair explored pet-friendly destinations to vacation with your pets.
This high school Valedictorian turned media maven is just as brainy as she is brazen. Every spring, Ashley co-hosts two live invention competition TV shows dubbed the “American Idol for nerds”. The programs Georgia Tech InVenture Prize and ACC InVenture Prize feature mind-blowing innovations designed by college engineers and entrepreneurs. Ashley keeps audiences laughing as the show’s behind-the-scenes interviewer and punster.
In addition to hosting, Ashley has become a television writer and producer in high demand. She’s now the writer and Executive Producer of Georgia InVenture Prize. In 2015 – 2016, Ashley wrote, directed and co-executive produced the hour-long PBS cultural documentary Chinese Tea: Elixir of the Orient. This international project won six Emmys, Ashley winning her first solo Emmy for writing.
Ashley acquired her passion for people (and pets!) and telling their stories during undergraduate study at Agnes Scott College. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Agnes Scott in 2009, where she holds a B.A. in English Literature.
Ashley and Rosie currently reside in Atlanta, GA, where they enjoy long walks, naps, and a shared bowl of spaghetti.
